Outdoor worship

What are we doing?

Led by Quakers, and in the spirit of the Quaker practice of listening deeply, we will gather for an outdoor worship of deep listening around sunset time. This group will be lead by Christian Quakers and is open to all seekers who earnestly desire greater connection with God, the divine, and the natural world. We will share readings from a variety of sources from secular to sacred texts.

Format

We will share a couple of readings and reflection, and then listen deeply together to God’s stirrings in the natural world around us and within our hearts.  If compelled, people are welcome to share (just a breath or 2) of what comes up in them.  We will honor what people share with our respect and will not discuss or give feedback at that time.   There might be long periods of silence. That is okay, people can listen to the world around and embrace the stillness.

This group will be led by Christian Quakers, rooted in the belief the the incarnate God is wrapped up in all living things.   We hope to offer space for all  seekers who earnestly desire greater connection with God, the divine, and the natural world. We will share readings from a variety of sources from secular to sacred texts.

We will not have an offering or not have any sort of altar call.

Logistics

We will sit in a circle (if you own one bring a camping chair we will have extras) with a fire in the middle. We will have some light refreshments (warm drinks perhaps) available before and after. Children are welcome. We know that children can be noisy and want to wander. Of course keep a close eye on them particularly around the fire, but know that we welcome their busy selves.  Their distraction might even serve as a point of insight for someone.

If it is dark, we will have some solar power lights from the parking area to the gathering area to guide you as well as some flashlights. Bathroom facilities are available in the adjacent building.
